The work is changing
Six of us were back on the hill this Sunday morning. We dug one more pit and planted one more tree. But most of the morning was spent doing something that doesn't always show up in the numbers: taking care of what we've already planted.
Checking the young trees. Looking at the soil around them. Clearing what needed clearing. Making sure the trenches are doing their job. And simply spending a little time with the plants.
A little TLC
TLC usually means Tender Loving Care. Kind, gentle and thoughtful attention. And perhaps that is exactly what these little trees need from us now.
Planting a tree is a moment. Keeping it alive is a relationship.
We are slowly moving from how many can we plant? to how well can we help them grow? And honestly, there is something quite satisfying about that.
One pit.
One tree.
Lots of TLC.
